Turkish holding company acquired share of “Urta Osiyo Trans”
12.05.2009
Turkish holding company Ortadogu has acquired 34% stake of “Urta Osiyo Trans”. The transaction cost has amounted to USD 2 mln. State Joint Stock Company of International Road Haulages “Urta Osiyo Trans” is the leading hauler in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. The main activity of the company is road haulage of export-import cargoes in countries of Europe, CIS, Turkey, Iran, China and Afghanistan.
Taking in consideration relatively stable situation in Afghanistan, growth of cargo’s volume transported through Uzbekistan in this country, lack of direct railway communication between Fergana valley and rest part of Uzbekistan ( nowadays, railroad track from Tashkent to Fergana passes through Tajikistan), it might be supposed that volume of road haulage will increase. Moreover, it is not ruled out that auto park of the company will be renewed, what will also lead to the haulage volume growth.
The creation of the logistic centre in Navoi city offers new challenge for the company. According to the Uzbek media “Urta Osiyo Trans” and “Hanging Logistics” (Korea) intend to create joint venture for transportation of the cargoes. Within a radius of 2000 km from the city of Navoi, there are the capitals of 11 States and more than 40 big cities of Central Asia, Middle East, India and China.
